COFIDES supports Alter5's expansion into the United Kingdom.

Madrid, 26 October 2026. COFIDES is supporting the London launch of Alter5, the Spanish fintech that applies artificial intelligence to financing SMEs and energy transition projects. To that end, it has granted a €300,000 loan from the Fund for Foreign Investment Operations of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (FONPYME).

The financing will allow Alter5 to set up a commercial subsidiary in London, from which it will step up the raising of international investors in the UK market. Alter5 will thereby diversify its institutional investor base and gain a local platform that strengthens financing for its project portfolio.

Alter5 channels capital to SMEs and to developers of mid-sized energy transition projects, a segment with specific financing needs and a need for access to specialised investors. The company has experience in this market and maintains relationships with international institutional investors.

“London is home to a substantial share of the institutional capital that invests in European private markets. Our platform uses artificial intelligence to originate each deal and present it to investors, and the subsidiary brings us closer to them and multiplies our reach”

Miguel Solana · founding partner of Alter5
